Massachusetts Broken Bones and Fractures

Boston Lawyers Pursue Compensation for Victims of Broken Bones and Fractures

Proven Massachusetts attorneys fight on behalf of injured clients

Though broken bones are relatively common, they can trigger severe pain and lasting damage. Many of these fractures are caused by falls and workplace incidents. Many are also caused by vehicle collisions on the 31,000 miles of highways that cross Massachusetts. At our Boston law firm, Feinberg & Alban PC, we are experienced litigators who represent injury victims in lawsuits against the negligent individuals and companies who harmed them. Our aggressive attorneys have earned substantial verdicts and settlements for plaintiffs in a wide variety of personal injury claims and can secure proper compensation for your broken bones and other types of injuries.

Knowledgeable advocates assist individuals who’ve sustained fractures

We are tenacious litigators who handle all types of injury claims involving broken bones, including cases arising from motor vehicle and bicycle accidents, falls, and workplace incidents. Even if you don’t immediately feel the need to seek medical assistance, you might later realize your injury is more serious than you thought: you have broken a bone that can lead to further problems and medical costs down the road. Symptoms of a fracture include:

  • Sudden pain
  • Trouble moving joints and injured areas
  • Swelling
  • Deformities
  • Warmth, bruising or redness

Whether the impact was to your arm, leg, ribs, collarbone or another part of your body, the threat to your health goes beyond the initial injury. Fractures can lead to a range of medical complications:

  • Healing in the wrong position — Fractures that don’t heal correctly can result in a misalignment that requires extensive medical treatment, possibly including a re-break of the bone.
  • Disruption of bone growth — Without prompt, effective treatment, injured children risk having the growth of their bones altered due to fractures.
  • Persistent bone or marrow infection — An open fracture or surgery to treat broken bones can expose the bone to infection.
  • Bone death — Avascular necrosis, sometimes referred to as bone death, involves the loss of blood to the bone. Since bone is made up of living tissue, blood loss can cause bones to die.

Our lawyers look beyond the visible effects of the injury and press for a resolution that fully accounts for your present and future damages.

Persistent law firm delivers strong support in all types of fracture litigation

A closed, or simple, fracture exists when the bone is broken but the skin remains intact. An open fracture describes injuries where the victim’s skin is broken in addition to the bone. A compound fracture is one in which the bone protrudes through the skin. We have detailed knowledge of these types of fractures and access to medical experts who help build the strongest possible case in lawsuits involving all types of fractures, including:

  • Comminuted fracture — A high-velocity impact can cause this kind of fracture, where the bone shatters into fragments.
  • Greenstick fracture — Infants and children, whose bones are softer and more flexible than adults’ bones, are susceptible to these injuries where their bones bend until a buckle or break occurs.
  • Transverse fracture — This fracture cuts across the narrow part of the bone, perpendicular to the long part, or shaft, of the bone.
  • Avulsion fracture — This type of break involves a bone fractured in a place where a ligament or tendon is attached to the bone. These injuries frequently occur when a bone is quickly pulled in opposing directions.
  • Oblique fracture — This diagonal break often happens on longer bones such as the femur and fibula.
  • Spiral fracture — Also known as a torsion fracture, this type of break can happen when a hand or foot is planted while the arm or leg twists.
  • Impacted fracture — Where a fragment of a broken bone is driven into one or more other fragments, a bulge can occur that often requires surgery.
  • Stress fracture — This is a tiny break, often to the feet and ankles of athletes, caused by overuse and repetitive activity that weakens the muscle and shifts impact to the bone.
  • Stable fracture — If the two sections of broken bone are lined up in the correct position, the break is described as stable and can usually heal without surgery.

Whatever your specific injury might be, our attorneys have a track record you can trust when it comes to maximizing compensation through a verdict or settlement.
