There are several key areas to any law firm’s successful handling of these cases:
- Thorough understanding of insurance law including an ability to process and “coordinate” automobile insurance with health insurance.
- Thorough understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and the rights of private health insurers to be repaid. You do not want a case resolved only to have outstanding medical bills or health insurers seeking payment.
- Thorough understanding and ability to establish liability and damages. This takes effort, insight, and can be expensive. You owe it to yourself to hire a law firm with that skill, willingness, and dedication.
- While cases often do not resolve promptly, you need a law firm that will work on your case from the beginning of being hired. The risks are too great if you retain a lackadaisical attorney: witnesses and evidence may disappear, memories can fade, and your pain and suffering may be forgotten if not properly documented.
Almost 25 years ago the highest court of Massachusetts, the Supreme Judicial Court, compared “navigating the torturous twists of automobile insurance law” to “a challenge at least equal to that faced by the uninitiated driver on his first foray into the streets of Boston.” The challenge remains. Hire a law firm equal to the task.
